Mission Statement
The Mission of the Panorama Benevolent Fund is:
Primarily, to provide financial assistance and support to individual residents in need.
Secondarily, to provide services and to fund quality-of-life projects for the benefit of all residents, in cooperation with Panorama and other charitable or community organizations.
The Panorama Benevolent Fund encourages and supports Panorama’s effort to provide a smooth transition through the various phases of aging.
The Panorama Benevolent Fund is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization operated by and for residents of Panorama. It was established in 1972 for two purposes: First, as an unobtrusive means of helping residents who need financial assistance to remain in independent living at Panorama; and second, to provide funds for the general use and benefit of all residents.
The Fund is administered by a Board of Trustees elected by the membership. Trustees serve staggered 3-year terms. A life-time membership fee of one dollar makes any resident a member of the Fund, eligible to participate in the election in November and the annual meeting in January. Over 97% of residents are members.
The Panorama Benevolent Fund is independent of the Panorama Corporation. Nevertheless, both entities work together to achieve the goal of a superior quality of life for Panorama residents. Since its inception the Fund has contributed over $2,000,000 to residents in need of financial assistance.
The Fund is supported by the proceeds from the annual Patio Sale, sales in the Handcrafters’ Shop, the annual fund drive and by contributions from individuals. Memorials and bequests are major resources for support to the Fund. It is important to maintain a substantial principal, since only the interest from the invested principal is used to assist recipients of the Fund’s Social Assistance Program.
The Social Assistance Program, administered by the Panorama Benevolent Fund, provides financial assistance for Panorama residents whose assets and income fall within the Benevolent Fund’s Guidelines for Eligibility. Although the Social Assistance Program is administered by the Benevolent Fund, Social Assistance Representatives work closely with staff of the Independent Health Care Services Division of Panorama on behalf of a resident.
The Fund also provides the funding for the Social Services department, which provides for counseling and support services to residents at no cost. Lifelines are also provided free of charge to any resident who needs and wants one. Information about these programs may be obtained by calling the President of the Panorama Benevolent Fund or the Chair of the Social Assistance Committee.
